Introduction to Yoga One-hour orientation for students new to yoga and the studio. During this orientation you will learn what to expect from a yoga class, including a brief introduction to the Universal Alignment Principles that we teach. You will also learn and practice some basic yoga poses and have the opportunity to ask questions. We can then help you determine what class will best suit your needs. Mindfulness Meditation-6 classes Classes will be held two times a month - dates are: Sept 17 & 24; Oct 22 & 29, Nov 12 & 19. For students who want to establish a daily sitting practice. For those who have NO experience there will be a primer at 7pm. Please advise before the first class if you are new to meditation and would like to have the primer.

Her passion for healing and therpeutic yoga has been fueled by Anusara Yoga's elegant and effective alignment principles and John Friend, whom she has fervently studied with since 1999. Her diverse studies in yoga include masters of other yogic traditions and Anusara Yoga's top senior teachers. Her energetic, fun and incisive teachings offer clarity and a focus to the program that make it accessible to the beginner and of interst to the professional. With a background in art and interior design she inspires her students to create beauty and grace in form as an embodiment of the divine spirit within us all. Elizabeth currently teaches yoga in her home studio in Rockville, MD, where she offers weekly classes, private sessions, yoga therapeutics and workshops. Body Ball Massage Workshop A workshop using movements, strengthening exercises and massage balls for total fitness and pain relief. The objectives of this workshop are to demonstrate and teach the use of massage balls for achieving deep tissue massage, acupressure release, and overall body flexibility. The focus will be on the neck, shoulders, spine and buttocks. The outcome of the workshop will be a rejuvenated, pain-free body with improved range of motion for daily tasks, the restoration of athletic flexibility and a decreased propensity for injuries. Participants will learn self-help techniques for sustaining a healthy, flexible and pain free body. Please wear a tight fitted t-shirt for this workshop. Maggie Wong is in her 10th hear of a successful yoga practice in the Washington metropolitan area. She teaches both yoga and body massage with balls. She has studied with well known yoga masters such as Donna Farhi, Victor van Kooten, Angela Farmer and Gary Krafstow and is a certified pre-natal yoga teacher.

Drum Circle Drum circles allow you to let your imagination soar by discovering that personal ryhthm which is exclusively yours. The sound of the drum speaks to us all. Everything has a rhythm, from the staccato beat of raindrops to the smooth rhythm of the surf. Most importantly, our hearts have a strong rhythm. Sometimes our heart beat speeds up and then slows back down but there is a basic, natural rhythm that is yours alone. All instruments provided. All you need bring is your imagination, your curiosity, and the spirit of self discovery - come join us! Adults only. John Lopez's career as a muscian spans several different musical styles and cultures. He has performed with all types of ensembles - from symphonic literature to solo percussion, jazz to country western, Broadway shows to studio recording. A career educator, he brings a unique insight and broad base of professional experience to his students. John's personal belief is that "we can all reach a higher level of appreciation and understanding if we open ourselves to the experience of different music cultures, styles and genres." John is an instrumental Music Director leading bands and orchestras in Montgomery County public schools, a free lance percussionist, a drum circle facilitator, and the leader of his own perfroming ensembles.
