reiki_image_2We are currently offering private Reiki sessions, given by one of our teachers, Kandi Austin (see her bio on the Teacher page).
  • Reiki is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Force Energy. The work Reiki comes from Rei, meaning “universal, or higher power”, and Ki, meaning “vital life force” which is that force that permeates our being.
  • Reiki is a form of hands-on healing, and it flows through the practitioner’s hands into the client’s body, giving every cell the proper energy and balance to heal, harmonize and balance all the way down to the deepest levels. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being.
  • Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement. It has been effective in helping virtually every knows illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
  • During a Reiki session the recipient’s universal life-force energy is increased, accelerating the healing process. The practitioner channels the energy and the recipient takes in this increased flow of universal life-force energy. The energy is utilized due to the recipient’s intention for healing and the body’s own innate wisdom for knowing what needs to be healed. The practitioner does not use her own energy, but is a channel for the flow of energy.
  • Hands-on sessions usually begin with the recipient sitting or, preferably, lying face up on a massage table, clothed and in a quiet, private area. The recipient does not have to do anything or attempt to make something happen. The practitioner gently places their hands on, or a few inches above, the recipient’s body, in a series of hand positions. The practitioner usually starts at the head and face, moving towards the feet and includes any areas that the practitioner or recipient sense may need energy for healing. Each hand position is held for three to five minutes. There is no pressure, manipulation, or massaging of the body. The recipient usually becomes quite relaxed. Many people report feeling a sensation of warmth or tingling as the energy moves through their body. Some experience emotions, memories, insights, and may see colors. The body uses the energy of healing whether or not the recipient is aware of any sensations from the energy.

When a session has ended, the recipient will often feel as if they just awoke from a deep sleep, and soon after, feel alert, refreshed and energized, balanced and relaxed. This feeling can last a few days after a single session, depending upon one’s daily regime and stress levels. Many people report better sleep patterns, allowing more renewal and improved health.

40 minute sessions = $45
60 minute sessions = $65

Just curious about Reiki? A 20 minute session ($25) can be scheduled with Kandi prior to her yoga classes..on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Kandi is now offering THAI MASSAGE.

What is Thai Massage? Thai massage is believed to have been developed by Jikaka Kumarabhacca, physician to the Buddha, more than 2,500 years ago in India. It made its way to Thailand, where the Ayurvedic technicques and principles graudally became influenced by traditional Chinese medicine.

What does Thai massage feel like? Thai massage is energizing, and at the same time relaxing and releasing. Thai massage is sometimes called Thai yoga massage because the therapist uses his or her hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like stretches. Many people say Thai massage is like doing yoga without any effort. Muscle compression, joint mobilization and acupressure are also used during the session.

What shoudl I expect during my visit? Thai massage is usually done on a padded mat on the floor. No oil is applied, so you are fully dressed. You are usually asked to bring or war comfortable clothing to the massage. A typical Thai massage is 60 minutes to 2 hours long.
