Class Description
Gentle Yoga

A beginner yoga class for those who desire a slower-paced and less vigorous class than Yoga 1. Combines warm-ups, gentler postures and breath awareness to increase movement and vitality and reduce stress. Must be able to get up and down to/from the floor.

Kids Yoga(ages 6-10)

Introduce your young ones to yoga! This class will include learning about the breath and yoga poses to connect with both the breath and the body in a calm, loving way. Relaxation at the end of class will help to reduce stress and quiet the mind.

Mixed Level

This class is geared to the level of students attending. Variations are added to standing poses and increasing and varying levels of challenge are offered. Not appropriate for the very new student.

Mixed Level, Special

Come explore the cosmic constituents of nature. In the yoga system the three qualities that make up the natural world are called Gunas- there are three. They consist of the force of inertia (tamas), the power of heat (rajas), and the ideal aspect of light (sattva). Each practice will explore these three qualities with the goal of cultivating balance. A basic knowledge of asanas is required to take the class.

Pre-natal Yoga

This class is for both new and experienced yoga students. It is designed to help you remain healthy and relaxed throughout your pregnancy and to prepare for labor and delivery.In this class you will deepen your relationship with your baby, connect with other mothers-to-be, and develop strength, flexibility and calm to serve you through your pregnancy, labor and beyond. You should be past the first trimester to participate in this class.Permission of doctor/midwife is recommended prior to beginning this yoga class. This is a continuing class where students can register for any number of classes based on their due date so there is no increase pro-ration multiplier. (Any number of classes is $ 17.50.)

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga focuses on opening, releasing and relaxing the body in restful postures. This allows the body to renew and heal. This a relaxed practice of floor asanas for 3 to 5 minutes at a time. These postures gently stretch and rehabilitate the connective tissues that form our joints allowing us to maintain and restore joint flexibility. Find comfort and balance for your mind and body. No yoga experience required.

Vinyasa Flow 1/2

A class for the EXPERIENCED BEGINNER who has taken both yoga 1 and yoga 1/2 or equivalent in the past year. You MUST be able to do lunge pose from Downward Facing Dog as well as Chataranga Dandasana. Vinyasa style links breath and movement in a flowing fashion like the Sun Salutation.

Yoga 1

A class for BEGINNING as well as continuing students who will be introduced to the fundamentals of basic yoga postures with attention to both body and breathe awareness via universal body alignment principles. Sitting, standing, basic twisting postures and gentle backbends are practiced.

Yoga 1/2

A class for students ready to move to the next level of practice who have completed AT LEAST two Yoga 1 sessions OR has had a minimum of one year previous, preferably recent, yoga experience. The emphasis is on building endurance and introducing Yoga 1/2 poses. Alignment principles are further refined as we move into more forward and back bending and revolved and twisting poses. May include prep poses for beginning inversions. A short meditation may be part of the class.

Yoga 1/2Plus

A class for the EXPERIENCED BEGINNER. Further refinement of the principles of alignment is practiced to build more strength (especially shoulder alignment). Includes inversion preps and practice at the wall of full arm balance (handstand), forearms balance, and shoulder stand as well as continued work with backbends. A short meditation may be included. Aspects of yoga philosophy may be themed in these classes.
